On March, 12 the Department of Law hosted a PhD seminar as part of the PhD in Law programme. The keynote speaker at the event was Dr. Charles O’Mahony, Lecturer in Law and Head of the School of Law of NUI Galway.

Dr. O’Mahony discussed the challenges and opportunities in legal education in Ireland, and the nature and value of the PhD in Law within existing debates and trends in legal education. Dr. O’Mahony also examined the opportunities for PhD students to undertake a career in academia.

The event was organised by Dr. Delia Ferri, Director of the PhD in Law Programme, in collaboration with Dr. Noelle Higgins and Dr. Brian Flanagan.

At the Department of Law we we offer both M.Litt and PhD degrees.  These offer the opportunity to pursue an extended research project under the supervision of an internationally recognised expert in the field.
