Congratulations to Dr. Na Fu, Dr. Olga Ryazanova and Dr. Ruifang Wang who have been awarded for the prestigious Maynooth University Teaching Fellowships. This award has demonstrated their great commitment into advancing teaching and enhancing student learning experience.

The fellowships aim to identify the best practices currently being used in world-leading institutions to enhance the first-year undergraduates’ learning experience through effective assessment and feedback tools.

Maynooth University is fast growing. To ensure the excellent quality of teaching and students’ positive learning experience, using different assessment and feedback approaches is vital. However, due to relatively limited teaching resources and support lecturers are facing great challenges in providing feedback and mid-term assessment to students.

To address this issue, Dr Fu, Dr Ryazanova and Dr Wang will identify the best practices from both international and national leading universities in providing feedback and using different assessment approaches in teaching large-class first year students. They will focus on computer assisted assessment (CAA) including E-Assessment and peer review.  The best practice for the first year student teaching could be applied to other years’ students.

With the knowledge of the innovative feedback and assessment tools identified from this project, lecturers will be able to deliver more effective student-centred teaching and students will have more positive learning experiences.
