The Department of Law is pleased to announce the book launch event ‘The EU Social Market Economy and the Law Theoretical Perspectives and Practical Challenges for the EU, edited by Dr. Delia Ferri and Prof. Fulvio Cortese, which will take place on Friday November, 23 2018.

The venue is Phoenix Boardroom, North Campus, Maynooth University.

In the aftermath of the Brexit referendum and of the harsh economic crisis that hit several Member States, the event aims to discuss the values presented by a ‘social market economy’ within the EU context, placing them within the theoretical and historical debate on the European integration process as a whole. Distinguished academics will discuss whether, and to what extent social goals are pursued in various strands of EU legislation, and how economic and social objectives are balanced. The event, while revolving around the themes touched upon in the volume, reflects on the future EU political and legal trajectory, and on the values and principles which the Union posits.
