As part of the SPUR internship offered by Maynooth University Department of Law, Emma Guyatt, assisted by Prof Michael Doherty, presented their research paper on ‘Just another gig? Platforms and On-Demand Work in Ireland’ to the EU Law Working group Autumn 2020 on Friday 13th November.

The purpose of this group is to meet and develop a forum for the discussion of current issues in European Union law and to present works in progress. It is hoped this will further develop the EU law community in Ireland, foster a mutually supportive environment for the exchange of ideas, provide opportunities for collaboration and a forum for engagement with the wider community. There were two panels consisting of presentations of works in progress and those concerning recent developments in EU law. The group was generously sponsored by the Jean Monnet Programme of the European Commission. The research carried out by Emma Guyatt and Prof Michael Doherty was in conjunction with the EU Commission as part of the Peer Review on ‘Platform Work’.

The paper has recently been published by the EU Commission, see Peer review on “Platform work”, 12-14 October 2020 (online) - Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion - European Commission (europa.eu)
