‘Back from the Dead: Kubrick, Music and the Auteur’, a chapter in Music, Modern Culture, and the Critical Ear (ed. Nicholas Attfield and Ben Winters) has just been published by Routledge. In the chapter Christopher explores the rich tapestry of pre-existing music (from Handel, Schubert, The Chieftains and others) in Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon (1975) and asks what a compilation score like this tells us about the nature of authorship.
