First Week Classes for 1st year Music Students

Week 1, Music 2020 – 21 Plan for first week of first-year modules

MU 151: Music Studies I - BA and BMus, Monday, 9am – 11am, 28 September: instead of tutorials in the Music Department, students attend an online Teams ‘Meeting’, where Dr Laura Watson and Dr Francesca Placanica will introduce the Performance strand of MU 151. All students are required to attend.

To access the meeting: - download the Teams app (this is linked to each student’s Maynooth University email account); - when Teams is downloaded, find the MU 151 ‘Team’; - at the stated time (9am on Monday) click the ‘Join’ button to join the meeting. Another way of joining the meeting is to click on the link which appears in the email in vite.

MU151: Music Studies I, BA and BMus,  Tuesday, 2 – 4pm, 29 September: instead of a lecture in JH7, attend an online Teams Meeting. Dr Laura Watson will give the first lecture on Understanding Western Music. To access the meeting: - download the Teams app (this is linked to each student’s Maynooth University email account); - when Teams is downloaded, find the MU 151 ‘Team’; - at the stated time (2pm on Tuesday) click the ‘Join’ button to join the meeting Another way of joining the meeting is to click on the link which appears in the email invite.

MU151: Performance Monday, BA and BMus,  4pm, 28 September. No class in week 1. Please check email and moodle for any details about this class. 

MU153 Music Traditions and Repertoires 1 BMus & BA Double Subject
These lectures will all be taught online from week 1. Two lectures will be posted per week (on Moodle). Please do not come to campus for these lectures. Arrangements will be made later in the semester for face-to-face contact.

MU155 Critical Listening & Analysis - BMUS ONLY. Monday at 13:05 and Thursday at 12:05---. Both classes will be online (via Teams). Check your email for inviation to these meetings. 

MU155: Composition component, BMUS ONLY.  Tuesday at 11.05am in the Gillen room – this lecture will be online (via Teams). Check your email for invitation to this meeting.
