This module runs throughout semesters 1 and 2, and operates in a workshop fashion with learners in groups. In the first 6 weeks (of 1st semester), a simulated real-life innovation scenario will be studied. The learners will research the case and interrogate the simulation team to develop a suitable innovation strategy for the case. Following on this, a process of research, ideation, selection and implementation planning of a suitable innovation initiative will be carried out.

During the second half of the first semester and all of the second semester, learners will form groups to select and investigate a real-life organisation as a case for early stage innovation research and implementation planning. Cases will be studied as integrated, whole situations where learners will be required to establish or develop an innovation strategy, carry out primary research, analyse findings and requirements, ideate, select and plan implementation of a suitable innovation initiative. Regular workshop sessions will be used for peer review, development of ideas and presentation of developments.
