I joined the Department of Media Studies in 2022 as an Assistant Professor. Prior to my appointment I worked at the Huston School of Film & Digital Media, NUIG, where I received my PhD in Film Studies. I teach across the BA in Media Studies and the MA in Critical and Creative Media on Media Theory, Media and Gender, Authorship, Documentary Film, and Screenwriting. I am the Maynooth Access Programme Academic Advisor for the department and I welcome queries from all Media Studies MAP students.

Research Interests
Broadly speaking I am a film historian. My research interests are in the area of early film and cinema scholarship with a particular focus on female film pioneers, early cinema audiences, the transnational film industry and films and cinemas from peripheral nations. I am currently preparing a monograph on the Film Company of Ireland (1916-1920) Ireland’s first indigenous fiction film company. I am an active member of a number of scholarly societies including Domitor: the society for the study of early cinema, the International Association for Media and History and the Women’s Film and Television History Network and the Research Society for Victorian Periodicals.
