The event will see the launch of the North Kildare Biodiversity Group. The group consists a number of institutions and organisations interested in promoting biodiversity across the region, including Intel Ireland (Leixlip Campus), Maynooth University, Carton House and Maynooth, Leixlip and Celbridge Tidy Towns. The event will be followed by a guided walk and talk visiting a number of biodiversity hotspots across the campus.

This event is part of Maynooth Week 2018. In June 2017 Maynooth University celebrated the 20th anniversary of its founding as an independent university. Maynooth Week 2018 is part of a year-long series of programmes and activities marking this milestone.
