€500K EPA Grant

Professor Niamh Cahill’s 4-year research project, Estimating and Projecting Population Exposure to Extreme Sea Levels in Ireland, has been awarded ~€500,000 in funding by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This support will enable us to assess how extreme sea levels may affect communities across Ireland.
Fulbright Award

Professor Ann O'Shea has received funding from the Fulbright Specialist Award scheme. She will host Professor Elise Lockwood from the Department of Mathematics at Oregon State University for a three week visit in August/September. Professor Lockwood is a leading researcher in undergraduate mathematics education. While in Maynooth, she will run research workshops for postgraduate students, faculty members, and policy-makers. She will also collaborate on research projects with Professor O’Shea.
CNRS "Postes Rouges" Funding Awards

Dr. Christian Ketterer, in collaboration with Nicolas Juillet (Mulhouse), has been awarded funding from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), France. The funding was granted under the Postes Rouges programme, which supports research visits by international researchers during Summer 2025.
New Funded PhD Scholarship in Statistical Modelling of High-Dimensional Spectral and Hyperspectral data

Funded by VistaMilk Research Ireland research centre, which represents a unique collaboration between 13 Agri-Food and ICT research institutes and leading Irish/multinational food and ICT companies, a new PhD scholarship was offered by our Department under the supervision of Dr. Katarina Domijan and Dr Szymon Urbas.
The PhD project will focus on the development of novel statistical and machine learning methodologies for the analysis of high-dimensional spectral and hyperspectral data and is due to start in September.
