New Irish Research eLibrary (IReL) Director appointed

Funded by the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, IReL is a nationally funded e-resource licensing consortium providing access to leading Science, Technology and Medicine (STM) and Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) resources on behalf of participating Irish publicly funded higher education institutions.

Reilly joins IReL from UCD Library, where she was Associate Librarian for Collections, Archives and Research Collections. Prior to joining UCD she worked on Open Science policy with the EU and internationally.
 
Overseen by the Governance Committee of the Irish University Libraries Collaboration Centre (IULCC), IReL is based at Maynooth University.
 
Speaking about her appointment, Reilly stated: “I am delighted to be appointed as IReL Director. I look forward to working with colleagues and stakeholders across the sector to further develop IReL and open access to Irish research for the benefit of researchers, students and citizens.”

Professor Eeva Leinonen, President of Maynooth University and Chair of the IULCC Governance Committee, welcomed the appointment, commenting: “The appointment of Susan Reilly as IReL Director comes at a crucial time in IReL’s development both in terms of widening participation and increasing open access to Irish research.”
