The Department of Law’s Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne recently provided research expertise to the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement. Dr Ní Ghráinne is Senior Affiliate of the Internal Displacement Research Programme at the Refugee Law Initiative, University of London, which recently entered into a research partnership with the UN Secretary-General's High-Level Panel on Internal Displacement.

On 4th November, Dr Aisling McMahon participated in a live #FirstWeds panel with Robbie Lawlor, Co-Founder, Access to Medicines Ireland, and Roz Scourse, Médecins Sans Frontières, discussing global health justice and solidarity in developing Covid-19 diagnostics, medicines and vaccines. The event was moderated by Dr Eilish Dillion, Department of International Development. Maynooth University, and hosted by Comhlámh and the Department of International Development, Maynooth.

Dr Sinéad Ring was interviewed by CNN on the legislation dealing with the records of the Mother and Baby Homes Commission.
The legislation has recently passed through the Oireachtas and has been signed into law. Survivors and advocates have raised a number of human rights concerns in respect of this legislation.

PhD Candidate Gerard Maguire has been awarded funding for a research project through the MU SPARK initiative
