Dr Fergus Ryan speaks to Institute of Guidance Counsellors
On Saturday 20th October, Dr Fergus Ryan of the Department of Law spoke at the Annual Conference of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors at DCU, Dublin. The conference, this year focussing on equality and diversity, brings together guidance counsellors from secondary schools all over Ireland. Fergus spoke on the topic of legal protection and challenges for LGBTI students and parents in Ireland, addressing best practice in addressing the needs of LGBTI students and families. He focussed, in particular, on the experience and challenges facing LGBTI students, and on how schools should best address transition by transgender students, with reference to legal standards and equal status requirements."
