Professor Hamilton speaks at ICCL (Irish Council of Civil Liberties) Seminar
On 27th May 2021 Prof. Claire Hamilton delivered a presentation on 'Comparative Perspectives on the Exclusionary Rule' at an online seminar organised by the Irish Council of Civil Liberties (ICCL) on 'DPP v JC and Recent Developments to the Exclusionary Rule'. The seminar was well attended by criminal law practitioners and academics and was chaired by Hon. Ms. Justice Úna Ní Raifeartaigh of the Court of Appeal, Adjunct Professor at Maynooth University Department of Law.

Dr Lauren Kierans appeared before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach on 27 May 2021 with Transparency International Ireland to provide expert advice on whistleblowing/protected disclosures legislation.

Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne appears on Nuacht TG4 to discuss the Israeli attack on Gaza
Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne recently appeared on TG4's main news programme to discuss the ramifications of Israel's attacks on Gaza. Dr Ní Ghráinne explained (as Gaeilge/ in Irish) the human rights and humanitarian law framework applicable to the conflict. She argued that Israel's use of force was disproportionate and indiscriminate, and hence a violation of international law.

Dr Treasa Kenny has been awarded an IRC New Foundations Award for her Project Glencree Centre for Peace and Reconciliation: Evaluation of Programmes
The project focus is on developing an evaluation framework which will include new ways for stakeholders to relate to evaluators and inclusion of stakeholders in the development of the evaluation design, methods of data collection, data analysis and interpretation.

Maynooth Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) Society officially launched ‘A Guide to Student Rights’, on April 17th 2021. This guide contains rights and regulations ranging across a number of different areas including Criminal Law, Rights on a Night Out, Landlord & Tenant Law, Employment Law, Taxes & Finances, Travel Abroad, Useful Contacts, and a Covid-19 Section. Additionally, it was composed with the interests of the students at Maynooth University in mind, attempting to invoke awareness and education within the broader campus community.
