Funds Law – A continued collaboration between the Department of Law and Matheson
The Department of Law and Matheson have continued to build on the success of the Funds Law module, taught by international law firm Matheson and offered on the LLM (International Business Law) and LLM (Global Legal Studies) programmes in Maynooth University.

Maynooth University Business and Law graduate is new Mayor of Kildare
The new Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council is Cllr. Naoise Ó Cearúil, a graduate of the BBL (Bachelor of Business and Law) (2011) at Maynooth. Naoise graduated in 2011, having served as former President of the student Law Society and President of MU Cuallacht na Gaeilge. He also holds a Diploma in Irish from NUI Maynooth. A native of Maynooth, Naoise has been a councillor for Maynooth Municipal District in Kildare County Council since 2014. His term of office as mayor began June 25 and lasts for a year. We congratulate Naoise and wish him every success in his new role.

Year 3 LLB student at Maynooth University wins Family Law Prize
This year’s winner of the Walls and Toomey Solicitors Family Law Prize is Ms Jana Khalil, a Maynooth University student who has just completed year 3 of the LLB Bachelor of Laws. Now in its sixth year, the prize is awarded to the student with the highest annual mark in the Family Law module offered by the Department of Law at Maynooth University.

Maynooth University Law Department and the Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy in SOAS are holding a joint online joint conference on the United Nations War Crimes Commission (UNWCC), which will take place on 19 November 2021. The conference organisers invite presentations from scholars in all disciplines, including but not limited to: law, history, international relations and political science

Dr Ciara Bracken-Roche presenting her work on Drone Technologies at the International Political Science Association's Annual Conference
On 15 July Dr. Ciara Bracken-Roche will be presenting her work on drone technologies at the International Political Science Association's Annual Conference. The panel is entitled ‘Governing Technologies in the 21st Century, Competing Actors, Discourses and Practices’, and includes a set of papers which explore multiple and interlinked governance challenges in booming technological sectors.

Dr. Ian Marder gives evidence to parliamentary inquiry in the UK, co-delivers Department of Justice/RJS4C stakeholder consultation in Ireland
The goals of the APPG on Restorative Justice are threefold: to examine the use of restorative justice principles within the UK justice system and beyond; to raise the profile of restorative justice principles within Parliament; and to provide opportunities for policy discussion and consultation.
