Professor Tobias Lock contributed an opinion piece to the Sunday Business Post arguing that the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on the unlawful prorogation of the UK parliament will have no major impact on the outcome of Brexit. He wrote that the judgment did not affect the fundamental choices facing the UK: whether to leave with or without a deal or whether not to leave at all. Professor Lock argued that Brexit with a deal as well as a no deal Brexit on 31 October seems now unlikely even though the UK government will try to find loopholes in the legislation that forces the prime minister to request an extension to the Brexit process. Instead, he considered a general election in the UK to be the most likely immediate outcome.
