Prof. Doherty Speaks At The Midyear Meeting of the International Labour and Employment Law Committee

Prof Doherty spoke at the Midyear Meeting of the International Labor and Employment Law Committee of the American Bar Association on May 8th at the Westbury Hotel in Dublin.
 
Prof Doherty participated in a panel discussion with Ms Justice Mary Laffoy (Supreme Court Justice and Adjunct Professor of Law at Maynooth University), Bryan Dunne, Head of the Employment Law Group and Partner at Matheson, and Coleen Cleary (CC Solicitors and Chair of The Employment Law Association of Ireland).
 
The panel explored the institutions, laws, policies, and practices of Irish labor and employment law, and the cultural and historical roots from which they have developed. Prof Doherty’s contribution focused on recent major changes in laws governing union recognition, and developments in strike law.
 
Professor Doherty researches widely in the area of industrial relations law and policy and has written and commented extensively on strikes and collective bargaining, including his piece ‘When You Ain't Got Nothin', You Got Nothin' to Lose.... Union Recognition Laws, Voluntarism and the Anglo Model’, published in the Industrial Law Journal.
 
Prof.Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law and Employment Law to BCL/ LLB students.
