Prof Doherty presented comparative research on 'gig economy' work at International Conference' Prof Doherty presented new research at the XXII World Congress of the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law (ISLSSL) on “Transformations of Work: challenges for the National Systems of Labour Law and Social Security” which was held from 4 to 7 September 2018 in Torino, Italy. Prof Doherty presented a co-authored paper with Dr Valentina Franca, soon to take up a new post at the University of Ljubljana, on the response of trade unions and legislators to the increase in platform work. Professor Doherty researches widely in the area of industrial relations law and policy and has written and commented extensively on gig work, and the implications for employment relations. He recently published a new piece ‘Trade Unions and the “Gig Economy”’ in Game Changers in Labour Law: Shaping the Future of Work. The book is the 100th of Kluwer’s Bulletin of Comparative Labour Relations
