Professor Doherty researches widely in the area of industrial relations law and policy and has written and commented extensively on collective bargaining, including as the law applied to the self-employed (see his recent piece with Valentina Franca ‘Solving the “Gig-saw”? Collective Rights and Platform Work’ in the Industrial Law Journal).
Prof Doherty is Head of Maynooth University Department of Law and lectures courses to all first year law students on Introduction to Law, as well as Employment Law to LLB students.
