Privacy Law Event a Big Success

Friday, July 3, 2015 - 11:15

The BILETA sponsored event, “Privacy: Gathering insights from lawyers and technologists” took place on 1 July 2015 and was a big success.

Dr Maria Helen Murphy (Department of Law) and Dr Leighton Evans (NIRSA) organised the event in order to bring technologists, legal practitioners, technology companies and academics together to address the common issues faced by the different parties in the field of privacy.

This goal was achieved as a diverse array of experienced professionals congregated at Maynooth University in an effort to bridge the communication gap. Notable speakers included the Data Protection Commissioner, Ms Helen Dixon and Google’s Chief Privacy Counsel, Mr William Malcolm. Topics discussed included the “right to be forgotten”, drones, and the importance of cryptography.

Further coverage of the event can be found here. Thank you to William Murphy for his photography.
