The Irish Yearbook of International Law has appointed three new Editors-in-Chief: Dr Bríd Ní Ghráinne (Maynooth University), Dr James Gallen (DCU), and Dr Richard Collins (UCD). An annual, peer reviewed publication, the Irish Yearbook of International Law is committed to the publication of articles of general interest in international law as well as articles that have a particular connection to, or relevance for, Ireland. It is published by Hart-Bloomsbury and is also available on Hein Online.
Dr Ní Ghráinne stated: ‘I am very much looking forward to working with my fellow Co-Editors-in-Chief on the next edition of the Yearbook as we have many ideas in the pipeline for the years to come. We are very grateful to the former Co-Editors-in-Chief, Professors Siobhán Mullally and Fiona de Londras for trusting us with this important role and for their advice and guidance as we embark on this new and exciting project.’
There are a number of ways to get involved with the Yearbook in the coming year:
Call for Papers The Editors invite submissions on any area of public or private international law for publication as an article in the Yearbook. Submissions are normally 10,000 to 12,000 words in length, although longer pieces will be considered. Submissions, comprising a brief 100-word abstract, article referenced in OSCOLA style, and confirmation of exclusive submission, should be sent to James Gallen (james.gallen@dcu.ie) by 31 July 2021.
IYBIL Student PrizeThe IYBIL Student Prize will be awarded to the best submission written by an individual enrolled in a degree programme at the time of submission. The winner will receive a prize of €250, generously sponsored by the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs, and their article will be published in the next edition of the Yearbook. Please submit your paper as per the call for papers above, indicating if you would like to be considered for the IYBIL Student Prize.
Book reviewsThe Editors are happy to consider reviews of books written by authors from anywhere in the world and on any topic loosely within the theme of International Law. If you are interested, please get in touch with Bríd Ní Ghráinne (brid.nighrainne@mu.ie) with the name of the book you would like to review. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
Upcoming EventsThe Editors will shortly release details of upcoming events, which will include a careers event in June 2021 as well as a launch event of the next edition of the IYBIL in late 2021/ early 2022.
