From Maynooth to Lyon: Teaching the Common Law in France.

Dr Fergus Ryan of the Department of Law recently delivered a series of lectures on the ‘Law of Persons in Common Law Jurisdictions’ at the Catholic University of Lyon (UCLy) in Lyon, France. The lecture series addressed the law governing personal rights, citizenship, birth registration, names, gender recognition, marriage, divorce, cohabitation and parentage in Ireland and other common law jurisdictions. The lectures formed part of UCLy’s University Diploma in Common Law.

The beautiful and vibrant city of Lyon is one many Erasmus destinations open to Maynooth university law students. UCLy and Maynooth University also share a common LLM in International Business Law, allowing students to study part of their masters in France and part in Ireland.
