3rd year LLB student Cameron Moss recently won the Justice Week Intervarsity Debate organised by the Bar of Ireland along with his teammates from Rachel Deasy (University College Cork). ,  Oisin Magfhogartaigh (University College Dublin) and Eoin McGloin (University of Limerick). The team were opposing the motion of the debate “This House Believes That the Right to Offend, Shock and Disturb is Necessary in a Democratic Society.”

The debate was judged by The Hon. Mr. Justice Seamus Noonan, The Hon. Mr. Justice Maurice Collins, The Hon. Ms. Justice Nuala Butler, Maura McNally SC, Chair of the Council of The Bar of Ireland.

Cameron joined the Literary & Debating Society during his first year at Maynooth University. A debate with a legal focus, such as Justice Week, is something Cameron has always been keen to do. “It is fun because in debates like that you’re acting like a policy maker, focusing on the impact of a law or right on the public or a specific group. It’s a type of argument you rarely see in a moot court'.

We would like to congratulate Cameron and his team mates on their success!
