Hilary Mullen and Mick Melia successfully complete SPUR internship

BCL student Hilary Mullen and LLB student Mick Melia successfully completed a six-week Summer Programme for Undergraduate Research (SPUR) programme, under the supervision of Dr Edana Richardson and Professor Michael Doherty. During their internship, Hilary and Mick provided research and practical assistance with the development and construction of an online postgraduate foundations of law modules. This included research on issues of accessibility, student engagement and programme planning.

Speaking of their internship, Hilary noted: ‘I learned a lot from the SPUR programme.  I feel like I improved my research skills as well as my critical thinking and problem-solving skills through the project.’ Mick commented: ‘I am grateful to the Law Department and the SPUR team for allowing me to see the possibilities for research in Law.’

Following their internship, both Hilary and Mick presented at the Maynooth University Undergraduate Research Virtual Symposium, at which Hilary’s presentation was Highly Commended within the Faculty of Social Sciences category.
