Dr Higgins Contributes Chapter to Book on Damages for Violations of Human Rights

A chapter on redress for human rights violations in Ireland by Dr Noelle Higgins has been published by Springer (Bagińska (ed.) in Damages for Violations of Human Rights: A Comparative Study of Domestic Legal Systems, (Springer: 2015). The chapter addresses when and how damages are awarded for breaches of human rights in Ireland and discusses recent developments in this field, including the ex gratia symphysiotomy redress scheme and the case of O’Keeffe v Ireland before the European Court of Human Rights.

Dr Higgins is a Senior Lecturer at Maynooth University Department of Law where she lectures in International Criminal LawPublic International Law, and The Rights of Minorities and Indigenous Peoples. Noelle is also the Course Director of the Department's LLM in International Justice
