Dr Fergus Ryan of Maynooth University Department of Law recently contributed a post on the Verfassungsblog on plans to reform the 8th Amendment of the Irish Constitution.

The post examines the constitutional dimensions of Irish law on the termination of pregnancies, analysing the current proposals to ‘repeal the 8th’, and assessing the likelihood of constitutional change.  According to its website: “Verfassungsblog is a journalistic and academic forum of debate on topical events and developments in constitutional law and politics in Germany, the emerging European constitutional space and beyond. It sees itself as an interface between the academic expert discourse on the one hand and the political public sphere on the other.” It is supported by the Center for Global Constitutionalism at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center and the Law in Context research network at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin - Institute of Advance Study.
