Dr Donal Coffey spoke on the topic of the drafting of the Burmese independence constitution in 1947 an interdisciplinary discussion on "The Historical Context of the Myanmar Crisis" hosted by the Edinburgh Centre for Constitutional Law and the Keith Forum on Commonwealth Constitutionalism.  Here the discussants looked at the history of decolonisation in Burma and the various elements of constitutional design that were important in Burmese history of the decolonisation period, using comparisons from other jurisdictions.

Dr Donal Coffey is an Assistant Professor at Maynooth University Department of Law and teaches Legal History of Empires.
