EU Career Opportunities for Irish-Speaking Graduates

Tuesday, February 16, 2016 - 11:00 to 12:00
CB3, Callan Building, North Campus

The derogation on the status of Irish as an official EU language is to fall away 2016-2021 with over 180 posts being created for lawyer linguists, translators, and support staff. There will be recruitment competitions each and every year for both permanent posts and temporary (3 year) contract positions throughout the 2016-2021 period. The terms and conditions of employment are very attractive and Maynooth University students, especially language and/or law students, should be made aware of these career paths.

The Honorable Society of King's Inns runs bespoke programmes to prepare candidates for EU recruitment competitions and for work as EU lawyer linguists and translators.

Dáithí Mac Carthaigh, barrister and fluent Irish speaker, has kindly agreed to address language and/or law students at Maynooth University about the opportunities available to them. Dáithí will speak to students at 11am on Tuesday, 16 February in CB3 (Callan Building, North Campus).
