Our Campus

The Kilkenny Campus of Maynooth University was established in 1997 to provide undergraduate and postgraduate courses for adult students from Kilkenny and the south east. In 2013 the Kilkenny First Arts programme was introduced which gives students the option to take year one of their BA degree on the Kilkenny Campus before moving to main campus in Maynooth in year two.

The campus is centrally located just off the ring road in Kilkenny with easy access from the M9 motorway. Our students come from all over the county including Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford and Donegal.

Arts in Kilkenny

At Kilkenny Campus you can choose from a selection of Arts subjects taken from the full range available on the main campus in Maynooth (as part of MH101). The subjects on offer range from centuries-old disciplines to more modern areas of thought because, as an Arts student, you can choose to study how people live, how they think, how they behave, how they interact with each other socially or economically, and you can also analyse cultural, literary, historical or political development.

The Faculties of Arts, Celtic Studies & Philosophy and Social Sciences, are offering students on the Kilkenny Campus of Maynooth University the opportunity to complete the 1st year of their degree in Kilkenny. On completion of same, students will transfer to the main Maynooth Campus to complete their studies.  The Arts degree on offer (known as MH901) offers flexibility, giving you the option to choose from a diverse range of subjects. You will have a number of weeks at the beginning of First Year to choose your subjects.

In first year students typically take four subjects one from each group, please check that your preferred subject combinations are available in second/third year too. In second and third year, students continue with two of their first year subjects.
