Documentary Film by MU International Student to be Showcased at IFI

Takasera, a documentary film by PhD student Matjaz Pinter, has been selected by the Irish Film Institute (IFI) for screening later this month. The film focuses on everyday life in Takasera, a village and former Maoist stronghold in Western Nepal. The film has been praised for its “gentle pace and observational qualities” (IFI). The film will be screened as part of the IFI’s Irish Focus strand which seeks to promote awareness of filmmakers based in Ireland. Matjaz’ is a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at Maynooth University. His research focuses on the formation of political consciousness in Nepal. He has conducted fieldwork in Mid-Western Nepal as a part of his research project. The film will be screened at the IFI on Tuesday 31st January at 18:30.
