We see active engagement with those involved in development policy and practice as central to the enhancing the quality, relevance and reach of our work at the Department. For many years, through our work at Kimmage DSC, we developed partnerships with organisations in Ireland and in the countries of the global South. These included work with Irish Aid, ICOS, Misean Cara and various NGOs and faith-based organisations in Ireland, and long-term partnerships with MS-TCDC in Tanzania and the GRAIL in South Africa. In recent years, we worked with many partners around Europe and in Asia. These included partnerships with the Pontis Foundation, Slovakia, and NGO Support Centre (SC), Cyprus on an EU-funded partnership development education project UNIDEV (Development Education in Theory and Practice) (2013 – 2017), as well as work on the CODET project with Keric, Slovakia along with partners in Asia, Europe and Latin America.
We are currently engaging in capacity development work with various international third sector organisations including Edmund Rice Mission and Jesuit Refugee Services. We have also developed a unique partnership with Comhlámh in its 2019 season of First Wednesdays public debates, discussions, interviews and conversations and we are working with other Departments on the Maynooth University Festival of Food Sovereignty, which will take place between 7 – 9th April 2019. We look forward to continuing our engagement with networks such as the Irish Development Education Association, Dóchas and Bridge47 as well as through the Development Studies Association of Ireland (DSAI) and the European Association of Development Institutes (EADI).
