The School is part of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies and Philosophy and offers various undergraduate and postgraduate degree pathways in the areas of Chinese Studies, French Studies, German Studies, Spanish and Latin American Studies.

The Role

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. The University Tutor plays an important role in the development, administration and delivery of many of the University’s academic programmes. S/he will be appointed for the primary purpose of designing and developing pre-sessional TEFL programmes and programmes for specific groups of international students.

The University Tutor is also expected to contribute to teaching TEFL courses by providing tuition and/ or demonstrations to groups of, usually undergraduate students, in specific aspects of the programmes. The University Tutor assists and supports students to further develop their understanding of key course topics and to draw out key learning points from course materials.

We are seeking to employ a TEFL University Tutor for a 3-year period from February 2018 for the duties of:

• Education administration duties related to the design, administration and implementation of TEFL programmes, booking of teaching venues, progress reports, materials etc.;
• Teaching duties; lesson planning; homework management and correction; assessment design, delivery and correction; student guidance & feedback;
• Attendance at all relevant meetings.

Programmes include pre-sessional English as a Foreign Language courses as well as tailor-made programmes for specific student groups, including EAP programmes. The School operates both morning and afternoon timetables. Flexibility in respect of scheduling is required from the successful candidate.
