Maynooth University, under its University Strategic Plan 2012-17, has articulated an ambitious vision to "consolidate its international reputation as a university known for outstanding teaching, excellent research, a global outlook, effective engagement with the society we serve, and our distinctive approach to the challenges facing modern higher education." The research, teaching and engagement missions of the university are utterly dependent on providing an outstanding campus environment and excellent support services. The university is thus creating a new senior role, of General Services Manager, to oversee and manage the effective and efficient delivery of a range of excellent soft facilities management campus services to international university standards. The service and support functions of the university make a vital contribution to the achievement of our strategic goals. The successful implementation of the strategic plan requires collaboration between academic and service teams, and the General Services Manager will work to ensure that the close interactions between academic and support units continue to meet the needs of students and are scheduled in the most efficient manner. The General Services Manager will report directly to the Director of Campus and Commercial Services who is responsible for Campus Services, Health and Safety Office, Security and Commercial leases/licenses. This is a new role and brings together the role of head of security with the management of other soft facilities services.
