Synopsis:
Lewis Namier (1888–1960) was one of the leading historians of the 20th century. Best known for microscopic studies of 18th-century politics, Namier also wrote extensively on 19th- and 20th-century Europe and was himself active in public affairs, especially in the Zionist cause. David Hayton, who has recently completed a biography of Namier, will reflect on what the historian’s life can tell us about his work and his ideas.
