Synopsis
This paper examines three documents written in Cavan between 1629 and 1633. These letters provide a graphic description of a county gripped by famine, tell us much about conditions on the ground at this time and give us a rare insight into the motivations and interests of the Gaelic Irish and British planter communities in Cavan at this time.
