Open Science - Exploring Research Data

Wednesday, June 29, 2016 - 16:30

The Health Research Board (HRB) in partnership with the ALLEA e-Humanities Working Group and the Royal Irish Academy (RIA) held a two-day Open Science event at the Royal Irish Academy.

“Open Science aims to transform science by making research more open, global, collaborative, creative and closer to society (https://ec.europa.eu/digitalagenda/...). It is about the way research is carried out, disseminated, deployed and transformed by digital tools, networks and media” (http://www.hrb.ie/fileadmin/Staging...).

The Director of An Foras Feasa, Professor Susan Schreibman, spoke at the second day of the conference which focused on practical issues related to research data governance and good practice. She discussed the Letters of 1916 public humanities project and how technology provides a way for the public to engage with the knowledge creation process as co-collaborators.
