Biography
I am a geographer and completed my PhD in Geography at Maynooth University in 2025, which aimed to utilise radar data to estimate soil texture in Ireland. My post-doctoral research focuses on Earth Observation (including satellite remote sensing) and modelling to characterise land use activity and management. The research project examines applications for monitoring and modelling land cover, land use, and land-use change in forestry (LULUCF), as well as analysing hotspots of urban heat islands (land surface temperature). My research is conducted within the All-Island Climate and Biodiversity Research Network (AICBRN), which brings together researchers from various disciplines across the island of Ireland to develop large-scale research that inform policy and management decisions while enhancing society's capacity to address the climate and biodiversity emergencies.
I am also collaborating with the National Soil Monitoring Network, an initiative undertaken by Teagasc to review and assess soil descriptors, methodologies, and criteria for healthy soils in Ireland. Associated with the EU Soil Monitoring Law, this initiative aims to develop a national soil strategy and soil monitoring programme through a collaborative process that includes stakeholder engagement.
