Geography: Dr Andrew Evans Seminar: Crime prediction: recent approaches

Thursday, February 15, 2018 - 16:00 to 17:30
Rocque Lab, Rhetoric House

Geographical analysis has been one of the mainstays of crime analysis for over 100 years. This talk will give some background to the field and then cover some of the advances over the last 10 years, concentrating on predictive policing using the spatial analysis of crime patterns, and agent-based modelling.

Dr Andrew Evans is a Senior Lecturer in GIS & Computational Geography, University of Leeds with a primary interest in developing ‘Artificial Intelligence’ solutions in geography as well as developing new technologies to aid democracy and people’s understanding of space, such as ‘fuzzy’ mapping software.

All welcome.
