Biography

I. Dey is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Electronic Engineering, National University of Ireland, Maynooth, Ireland. She received the M.Sc. degree in wireless communications from the University of Southampton, Southampton, U.K., in 2010, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Calgary, Calgary, Canada, in 2015. From 2015 to 2016, she was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow with the Ultra-Maritime Digital Communication Centre, Dalhousie University, Canada. She was a Research Fellow with the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, from 2016 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019, She was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow with the Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. She is currently a Committee Member for IEEE Future Networks UK and Ireland Local Group and an Expert Reviewer for EU Horizon Europe MSCA-IF Applications.

Presently, she is involved in developing propagation link models for full-Duplex Internet-of-Things networks, intra-body and inter-body communication networks and probabilistic quantum communication networks. As a part of her PhD research, she has developed the first-ever generalized propagation model for mobility-constrained indoor wireless communications accounting for fading and shadowing in a non-Gaussian environment. In the past, her efforts spanned over first-ever attempts of characterizing the propagation environments for virtual multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) and massive MIMO based wireless sensor networks.
