2019 Chinese Studies PhD Candidate Workshop

A Chinese Studies PhD candidate workshop was held at Riverstown Lodge, Maynooth University on 6 December 2019. The event is organised by the Department of Chinese Studies and is funded by the Education Section of Chinese Embassy in Ireland. Over 25 PhD students and supervisors from University College COrk (UCC), University College Dublin (UCD), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Technological University Dublin (DIT) and Maynooth University (MU) attended the workshop. 13 PhD candidates presented their research projects, covering interesting topics including: teaching mandarin Chinese tones; computer-mediated communication for adolescent Chinese language learners; cognitive effort in translation production; the linguistic landscape of Dublin Airport; space of cultural industry development in Chengdu; cross-cultural adaption of Chinese students in Ireland, and etc. We would like to thank the delegates who attended and contributed.
