Maynooth University English are delighted to be hosting Writer-in-Residence Oisín Fagan and Louise Nealon. They will be discussing Louise’s debut novel, the no. 1 bestseller ‘Snowflake,’ writing; reading; inspiration; working alone, and writing about home.
Oisín Fagan is one the current writers-in-residence at NUIM. His collection of stories, Hostages, was published in 2016 by New Island Press, and in 2018 by Head of Zeus. His novel, Nobber, was published in 2019 by JM Originals. It was shortlisted for the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize and the Butler Literary Award, longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize, and named as one of the books of the year by The Guardian and The Daily Mail.
Louise Nealon is a writer from County Kildare, Ireland. In 2017, she won the Seán Ó Faoláin International Short Story Competition and was the recipient of the Francis Ledwidge Creative Writing Award, and in 2021 she won The Newcomer of the Year Award at the An Post Irish Book Awards. She has been published in the Irish Times, Southword, and The Open Ear. Her debut novel, ‘Snowflake,’ was published in 2021 by Manilla Press and Harper Collins, and was a number 1 bestseller.
