The Lieutenant General Dermot Earley Lecture is an Irish Defence Forces and Maynooth University partnership event run annually.  The objective of the Lecture is to provide a forum for inclusive discussion of the challenges of public leadership and governance in a decade of profound crisis and change.  This is the sixth iteration of the Lieutenant General Dermot Earley Lecture.  The late Lieutenant General Dermot Earley made outstanding contributions to Irish and international public life through his work in the Irish Defence Forces and his sporting endeavours.  The inaugural lecture was presented in 2013 by Baroness Nuala O’Loan, Former Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland.  Other speakers have included Mr John Ging, UNOCHA and Mr John Concannon, Director of the Ireland 2016 project.  Last year Rev Dr. Patrick Devine delivered the lecture on “Peace, Security and Sustainable Development in Eastern Africa”.

The 2018 Dermot Earley Lecture will be delivered by renowned journalist Dr. Robert Fisk, who is a specialist on Middle Eastern affairs. You are cordially invited to attend this year’s event which will take place at 1830hrs on the 28 Nov 2018 in Farmleigh House, Dublin. The lecture will be followed by a canapé reception.
