Winner of YEOTY welcomed at the Irish Economic Association Annual Meeting

Each year the Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST) in association with Laois and Kilkenny Education Centres, the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting Maynooth University,  the Irish Economic Association and St. Angela's College host the Young Economist(s) of the Year National Awards for post-primary students. 

In collaboration with the Economics Department at Maynooth University and the Irish Economic Association the winners in the senior cycle YEOTY categories are invited to attend and participate in the Irish Economic Association Annual meeting. 

Pictured at this year's meeting which took place in Galway is Kate Walsh (Presentation Secondary School, Loughboy, Kilkenny) who was awarded 1st place in the YEOTY 2016 Senior Cycle for her entry titled: "The Economics of Terrorism". Alongside Kate in the front row is Professor Rowena Pecchenino (Maynooth University and Vice-President of the Irish Economic Association), Professor Caroline Hoxby (Stanford University) and Professor John McHale (NUI Galway & incoming President of the Irish Economic Association).
