The Department are pleased to announce that a team comprising of  Ms Aodhdin Casey and Dr. Bridget McNally (Accounting), Professor Donal O'Neill (Economics) and Dr. Fabrice Rousseau (Finance) has been awarded a Maynooth University 2019 Teaching and Learning Fellowship. The Fellowships are awarded as part of Maynooth University’s ongoing commitment to developing teaching and enhancing the student learning experience and provide the opportunity for staff to engage in practice based research into teaching and learning that contributes to the enhancement of teaching and learning within the University.

The team was awarded the Fellowship for their propsed research titled “Evaluating the use of eLearning for undergraduate and executive teaching at Maynooth University.” The Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting is uniquely placed to offer cross–disciplinary executive education at both undergraduate and postgraduate level to support the ever increasing population of executives who require varying levels of acumen in accounting, finance and economics to effectively discharge their executive duties.  It has become increasingly apparent that in order to develop new Maynooth University executive education programmes, a process needs to be in place around the  development, delivery and management of blended learning programmes.  It is envisaged that these programmes would incorporate a mixture of onsite tuition, distance learning, online lectures and tutorials, virtual office hours and virtual interactive discussion groups. The proposed funding will contribute towards research into the evaluation of and the feasibility of such sytsems given the current infrastructure in Maynooth.
