Our MScDI (Food) students were warmly welcomed by Shane Mohan and his team to Deloitte’s Blockchain Lab at their Docklands facility on Thursday January 25th providing a unique opportunity for our students to gain an exposure and insight from one of Ireland’s leading consulting firms and to see the expertise of the Deloitte partners in action. Among the topics presented were Industry disruption and evolution – delivered by partner Karl Kennedy and Disruptive technologies (RPA and FoW).
There followed an insightful presentation on the technology likely to have the greatest impact on the next decades. Blockchain: The technology that’s changing the rules demonstrated innovating across a rapidly accelerating range of use-cases, empowering consumers, organisations, regulators alike to connect and exchange value in more dynamic, efficient and immediate ways. Lisa Simpson is clearly passionate about her field!
Later in the day we were treated to Disruptive Innovation where our students rolled up their sleeves and put Design Thinking exercises into practice including prompts for solving research and working through to solution phase. Each group presented back their very interesting findings.
The last presentation where host companies were in attendance included an Outside-In Innovation including start-up showcase and a panel Q & A involving the brightest and best from Bord Bia, Maynooth University and Deloitte.
