Governing Authority Election Results

The 2019-24 Governing Authority Elections are completed and members have been elected. 

The Governing Authority has responsibility for the strategic direction of the University, the management and administration of its revenue and property and the general conduct of its affairs.

Members of the Governing Authority are drawn from the staff, students, graduates and external organisations. 

The elected Authority members are:
 

Four full-time members of the academic staff of the University (two women, two men), other than Professors A and B

Dr Mercedes Carbayo-Abengózar - Spanish
Dr Alison Fitzgerald – History
Dr David Malone – Mathematics & Statistics/Hamilton Institute
Dr Séamus Taylor – Applied Social Studies

 

Three graduates (minimum of one woman and one man)

Ms Geraldine Delaney Mr Peter Finnegan
Dr Michael Ryan

 

Two permanent or full-time employees of the university (one woman, one man), who are not members of the academic staff of the university

Female: Male:
Ms Joan O’Riordan – Fees and Grants Mr Paul Clear- Graduates Studies

 

Two members of the academic staff of the university (one woman, one man), who are Professors A or B

Female: Male:
Professor Honor Fagan – Sociology Professor Paul Moynagh - Biology
