On Friday, 6 June 2025 The Development and Alumni Relations Office welcomed alumni mentors to a special Thank You Reception for their contributions and participation in the 2024/25 Career Mentoring Programme. The reception took place in the Phoenix Boardroom on the North Campus at Maynooth University. Alumni mentors and guests were welcomed by Rebecca Doolin Vice President External Affairs. The event featured a panel discussion with recent programme participants including two recent alumni: Michelle Osagie (2024 BA) and Daniel Flynn (2024 BA), and one current student, Sindy Arcidiacono, a final year Media Studies student. During the discussion, they shared their experiences and reflected on how their mentor and the Career Mentoring Programme have influenced their confidence, knowledge and professional growth. After the talk, guests enjoyed a hot canapé reception and continued conversations sparked during the panel discussion.
The Career Mentoring Programme (formerly known as the Alumni Mentoring Programme) is a collaborative project between the Development and Alumni Relations Office, Careers and Employability Service, and Maynooth Access Office (MAP). The aim of the programme is to empower students with future-focused skills and to enhance their career readiness, aligning with Maynooth University’s commitment to producing “creative, inquisitive and critically engaged graduates” prepared for professional success (MU Strategic Plan 2023-2028).
The 2024/25 programme saw 102 students matched with 96 alumni mentors. 28% of the students involved in the programme came through the Maynooth Access Programme. 25 alumni mentors were based outside of Ireland, and this year there were 8 returning mentors. This year alumni mentors generously shared their expertise, career advice and time with students mentees in a total of 264 meetings across the 5 months of the programme
From the Development and Alumni Relations Office, thank you to our alumni mentors for their commitment to making this year's programme a success.
