Dr. Els De Maeijer has been studying those moments when people come together and cross organisational boundaries to share knowledge, create and innovate. Based on the idea that collaboration is created in interaction, Els focuses on how we organise our meetings and say the things we say in a certain way and not differently.
Doing so unveils interactional dynamics that may be important for successful collaborations, but mostly take place unconsciously. Els will talk about why some professionals sometimes rather not share what they know, about what people do to keep a relationship going and why talking about collaboration is a must and a taboo at the same time.
For her story, Els will use examples from cases studied in high-tech industry-academia collaborations and from collaborations aimed at integrating technology in healthcare and the public domain.
