Marchathon is the annual Smarter Travel Campus Walking Challenge that runs in March each year. It is open to all Third Level Campuses and Workplaces who are Partners of the Smarter Travel Workplaces and Campus Programme. This year two teams from the Chemistry Dept. took up the challenge; The Neurithmic Steppers, a group of researchers from Professor John Lowry's Lab and The Chemistry Comets, a group from the Technical Staff. The competition was fierce between the teams with the lead changing hands (or feet) several times. The eventual winners from all teams entered throughout the university were The Neurithmic Steppers followed closely, in 2nd place, by The Chemistry Comets. Over 800 teams nationwide took up the challenge. The Neurithmic Steppers and The Chemistry Comets were placed 24th and 25th respectively, a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to all involved.
