My name is Keane and I’m a third year PhD student in the bioanalytical laboratory working under the supervision of Prof John Lowry. I started running in November 2023 when a friend of mine decided to run a half marathon which I didn’t end up finishing because I took a wrong turn. Since then I’ve joined Dunboyne A.C and ran Dublin marathon in 2024 in a time of three hours and five minutes, not being happy with this time I decided to run the Belfast marathon. The event was a lovely day starting at Stormont on a lovely spring day. The course wasn’t the easiest to run being all rolling hills but the support from the crowds kept you going. The finish as Ormeau Park was nice the finish was well organized and getting your bag from the bag drop and being very happy with my time of two hours forty seven minutes.
